If you have kids, or plan to one day, and you’re worried, like me, that you won’t have time to create content for your business…this might help.
You’ve probably heard of time-blocking your mornings to get focused, creative work done. Block an hour. No distractions. Just write.
That works.
But I wanted it to feel more fun and cerebral, so I turned it into a game:
Before I write, I ask ChatGPT for 3 random nouns and 2 verbs. I have to use at least 3 of them in the email. And I’ve only got 30 minutes from idea to publish.
Miss the time limit? That’s a loss…to an imaginary opponent: me.
The setup ticks all the boxes for productivity nerds:
It’s time-blocked, so there’s built-in urgency
It’s simple, not a chandelier of a system like the robust Habitica with EXP, loot, and endless quests
It’s novel, the random words keep things fresh and force creative thinking
There’s also a tiny dopamine hit from adapting to the constraints.
It reminds me of why I love roguelite games: each run is different, and you’ve got to make the best of what you’re given.
And if you’ve got kids, here’s a fun twist: Ask them to give you words.
Let them choose the nouns you have to use in your email.
I can’t do this (yet), but I imagine it’d be a chaotic, hilarious, memory-making mess.
Now, is this system useful? Or just a peacock, flashy but all feathers, no follow-through?
I’ll test it and report back.
In the meantime, as I continue to play this “game”, I happen to still have room to take on a few more projects. So if you want help with email strategy or copy, just hit reply and we’ll take it from there.
