A few days ago, I was on a WhatsApp group call with a friend who lives overseas.

We were chatting about his travel plans and updating him on what we have been up to.

At some point, he asked if anyone in the group had seen my website, alexkopy.com.

He mentioned he loved the button spam bit at the end.

(If you haven’t seen it yet, go check it out now. Otherwise, this button spam won’t make sense.)

I was flattered but also caught off guard.

It felt like being called out by a teacher in class to answer a question you didn’t study for.

I paused for a bit.

“Uh…thanks…thanks! I’m flattered.”

"Alright, remember to transfer me some money for this…”

The group laughed as I went on to explain.

“Yea, it’s there for an entertainment angle. Like brand positioning.”

It’s true.

These days, if I want more people to notice me online, I need to:

  • Achieve great things

  • Do something unique

Otherwise, I’m forgettable and will be ignored.

The saying “Different is BETTER than better” is true.

Being different gets you attention.

It also positions you as someone who is “the only one who can do the thing.”

And it is also easier to remember someone who does things differently, than it is to remember who did it better.

But when I was actively applying for jobs, I made it a point to create a cover letter and resume that I’m certain will leave a deep impression on the interviewer.

I don’t always get a response. But those who replied, often tell me that they appreciate the effort, or how much they liked my cover letter.

That’s the approach I take every time I write a promotion for a client, too.

I find something unique about the brand or offer and then double down on it.

Maybe it’s the offer. The voice. The guarantee.

But it’s not always easy to see what makes a brand unique. Especially when you’re deeply involved in your business.

So, if you’re curious whether your business has something unique to tell the world, perhaps I can help.
